Access to Property
We suggest that you access Reich’s Church Road by traveling from the North. This intersection is wider to accommodate large vehicles. GPS will probably direct you from the south since it is a slightly shorter way, however the photo below demonstrated a telephone pole on the corner and a tighter turn coming from the south.
Instruction from the North:
If traveling from Route 30: take exit toward PA 441/Columbia/Marietta. 441N to Engle Rd (GPS will say Route #743 but continue on 441 for .8 miles.)
Turn Right onto Engle Road then Right on Stackstown Rd.
Right onto Reich’s Church Rd. (GPS may say you have arrived but continue down the road to the white house, red woodshop and our showroom on right.) Follow our signs to 9 Reich’s Church Road, Marietta, PA 17547
We look forward to sharing our peaceful location, wood working shop and showroom, full of quality handcrafted custom furniture.

Florida brothers experience George’s Furniture
George got a call late one Saturday afternoon near closing time. “Are you open on Sunday? We just found your brochure and are interested in seeing your furniture. Our return flight leaves for Florida on Monday morning.” replied the caller. “ I am very sorry, but we do not have hours open on Sunday. We would be happy to help you on Monday,” answered George Martin.
Flight changed
So they changed their flight and came into the showroom on Monday morning. A walk through the showroom and wood shop convinced them of our quality, but they wanted a different design for the head-board and foot-board of their king size bed. So George designed his first ocean wave bedroom suite. To the ocean wave poster bed, they added a dresser, vanity and nightstands.
Brother joins excitement
His brother heard about George’s quality furniture and wanted us to build a bookcase wall unit to encase a large fish aquarium. So he shipped the tank to us by freight to assure a perfect fit.
In the next few years, these brothers filled their homes with more furniture. One chose a roll top desk while the other got a computer desk with swivel desk chairs to match. The second brother chose a sleigh bed. A dresser, chest of drawers, night stands and a swivel full body mirror completed the set. Each one got entertainment centers and mantles for their fireplaces. One got an extension table, extra boards and chairs to accommodate guests when they come for dinner. Even their parents got in on the joy of handcrafted furniture, ordering a corner cupboard for their home.
Additional deliveries
We made several 16 hour trips to personally deliver their furniture over the next few years. On one trip, I was privileged to accompany George. I always enjoyed meeting our customers in their homes. After the furniture was safely moved into their homes, they gave us a tour of their massive vegetable fields. We enjoyed small plane aerial view over Lake Okeechobee and the Everglades, Florida.
This was a truly unforgettable experience with a wonderful family of George’s fans.

George’s Furniture specializes in customizable hardwood furniture—but did you know we also make accessories that will light up any room in your home? From cutting boards, to hand turned wooden bowls, to keepsake boxes, our craftsmen’s careful precision and skills are unmatched.
Our gorgeous wooden bowls are hand turned using the following steps:
- Initial rough turning: this first step takes place while the wood is still wet (before starting the drying process). The rough turning is complete when the bowl’s thickness is about 1” all around.
- One year of drying: the wood then dries for an entire year. For the last four months of drying, the wood is brought into a stable environment (like your home) for the final drying time.
- Remounted to lathe: The rough turned bowl can then be remounted to the turning lathe. You will notice the slightly oval shape due to the drying process. By letting the bowl fully dry, you will have a bowl that keeps its perfectly round shape for life!
- Thickness achieved: Hand turning continues and, depending on the skill of the craftsmen, the bowl will be turned into a very narrow thickness all around—giving it a beautiful shape and feel. The turning isn’t quite finished until the craftsman takes varying grades of sanding paper to provide the smooth touch to the bowl.
- Final product: The final product is then rubbed with a food-safe finish made for items such as butcher blocks and salad bowls.
