Quality can surprise you in the most unusual way. This happened to Greg and Bonnie during their trip to Lancaster County in 1998. Greg enjoys the outdoors and possesses a special interest in forestry. While visiting Columbia visitor’s center they saw a brochure about a furniture manufacturer in Lancaster County and decided to go exploring.

Furniture Manufacturer Discovered

George Martin, the founder of Georges furniture, greeted them at his countryside showroom in Marietta, PA. They enjoyed learning all about the different woods used in making the furniture. From drying the wood to the water-resistant finish-George explained the process of one craftsman building the complete piece of furniture then signed and dated the finished masterpiece. They remember George insisting that they needed to “come and get measured for the chairs.”  All furniture is custom made for our customers. George also showed them his antique tractors.

Custom Design

They were so impressed with their visit that they sent the dimensions of a podium designed to hold the family bible. That podium, a coffee table, corner bookshelf with book display, entertainment center, and 2 CD swivel stands, now reside in their home. All signed and dated by our craftsmen.

Early Delivery

What a pleasant surprise that the furniture arrived earlier than estimated. The delivery to South Carolina was the farthest stop of a multi-stop delivery. Greg and Bonnie offered their spare bedroom for Anthony and his wife, Sandy, to stay overnight.

Returned for Quality

On a recent trip after visiting friends in Lancaster, Greg and Bonnie had extra time driving to State College. They stopped by to see the new pieces of furniture since their last visit. A newly designed extending bench and a mission trestle extension table were just a few treasures in the showroom.
